Governor Wike, while addressing Rivers people regarding the cancellation of the proposed lockdown on Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt local government areas of the state on the 26th May, hinted that the state government had commenced an investigation into the alleged outbreak of coronavirus in Bonny Local Council where some persons, who complained of loss of sense of smell, taste, stooling and other COVID-19 related issue had died.
Further more, Governor Wike said; “Our team of medical personnel led by the Commissioner for Health has visited Bonny Island and collected samples from suspected cases for analysis and immediate intervention should the results indicate the outbreak of the virus in the area".
One Mr Brown Reporting from Nigeria info Radio station this morning, said all the results came out negative yesterday. Mr Brown however, added that it is important for them to come back to the drawing table to ascertain the cause of the recent deaths recorded in Bonny, Rivers State.
Meanwhile, no result has been released so far to ascertain the cause of thousands of dead fish in Bonny waters for more than a month. A
