WHO Recommends Food to Boost Your Immune System Against Covid-19*



The fight against covid-19 continues and doesn't seem like it's coming to an end anytime soon.

In addition to other preventive measures and guidelines put in place against the global pandemic, the World Health Organisation - (WHO) has made it known that eating a healthy diet is important during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thus, in a statement released in Geneva, the WHO has recommended certain food to help the body prevent, fight & recover from infections, in this case - covid-19 as NAN reports.


While it said that no food or dietary supplements can cure covid-19 infection, some healthy food can however, boost the immune systems.

The health agency therefore recommends these food to boost your immune system against covid-19;


Each day, eat a mix of whole grains such as - wheat, maize and rice, legumes like lentils and beans, plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, with meat, fish, eggs and milk.



Consume whole-grain foods such as unprocessed maize, millet, oats, wheat and brown rice.

Then for snacks, eat raw vegetables, fresh fruit, and unsalted nuts, it said.

Replace butter, ghee and lard with healthier fats like olive, soy, sunflower or corn oil when cooking.

Choose white meats like poultry and fish which are generally lower in fats than red meat.

When cooking your food, steam or boil instead of frying, it said.



The WHO also added that consumption of sweets and sugary drinks should be reduced.

Also, drinking of enough water is crucial for optimal health, it stated.

According to WHO, "Drinking alcohol does not protect against COVID-19 and can be dangerous," it warned.

These are the recommended food, please try to adhere to these so as to boost your immune system against this deadly infection.
